Eghhh... I know I have a zillion things to catch up with on this blog... but right now I've just got to vent. I am SOOO DISAPPOINTED with the Colts tonight. Seriously, it's ridiculous. Why, WHy, WHY would a coach just GIVE AWAY a perfect season??? I understand the whole theory of "resting" the players for the playoffs, but if you have seen the past history of the Colts... resting really doesn't work for this team! How ignorant is it to think that a team can just "turn on" and "turn off" being competitive. So this week our Colts won't be competitive, not next week either, but then they will turn it back on after three weeks off (KILLING all momentum they have built up all season), to come back and play well in the playoffs? It's not like the Colts have just killed every team they've played this year... in some of these wins the Colts have barely squeaked by. How much more energizing would it be to go into the playoffs with a perfect record to uphold, as well as a trip to the Superbowl on the line? The Colts have hurt themselves in the playoffs before with the whole "resting" theory, so why not go for the perfect season???
The perfect season has only happened ONE other time in NFL history. How many people can name every team that has won the superbowl? Didn't think so. How many people can name the only team to EVER win all of the games in a season? Most people... just one team, the Miami Dolphins has ever had that accomplishment. Eghhhhh.
I don't mind the Colts losing their perfect season record, IF they played their hardest and REALLY lost it. But when Peyton Manning is asking to play (along with other starters), and the coaches just GIVE THE WIN to the other team, and GIVE AWAY a perfect season... well, it's just frustrating as a fan and doesn't make sense to me! I understand protecting your key players, but Peyton PLAYED ALMOST ALL THREE QUARTERS...and the team was only 5 quarters away from going into the playoffs with a perfect record. Why play him the first three quarters then, and risk the injury, if they are just going to take Peyton out when it matters most?
