Brylee Reese is 14 Months Old!

My sweet little girl is 14 months old today, and I think the blog is an easy way to keep track of her monthly updates (I was using her baby book, but it only goes up to 12 months).  So when she asks me someday when she started ____ (walking, talking, reading, etc...), I can tell her! =)

Also, have you ever noticed that the older a mom gets, the earlier they tell other people their child started doing something?  Seriously, one of my neighbors in Louisville told me she had her daughter potty-trained at 10 months and her son trained at 13 months (yes, you read that correctly). Another person told me their child was talking in complete sentences at 1 year of age. Now I'm not saying I'm doubting the authenticity of these statements, but... well ok, I guess I am =).  Anyways, with my updates, we'll have no tall tales about Brylee when I'm a grandparent... haha.  So no, 25 years from now I won't be telling anyone she read "Gone with the Wind" and wrote a 20 page report by a year and a half! =)

Just to forewarn, if you're not a close relative, this blog entry will be a BORING one for you... so you may want to check out now.  I know I think Brylee's Faves and current Accomplishments are super exciting, but I realize the average reader may not =).

Brylee's 14 Current Faves:
  1. Ducky is still number one, closely followed by giraffe and monkey
  2. Crawling up the stairs and then having me hold her hands to let her "hop" back down the steps (she could go up & down all day long if I would let her)
  3. Seeing daddy when he gets home from work (It's amazing how much their relationship has grown now that Sam has a more family friendly work schedule -- we LOVE having him at home!)
  4. Peaches, Strawberries, Cherries, Mandarin Oranges... she eats fruit at every single meal
  5. Graham Crackers, Mum-mums, and fishie crackers are her favorite non-fruit snack
  6. Baby swings at the park -- she can pitch a good fit if I take her out of the swing before she's ready
  7. Racing down the hallway (w/ daddy chasing Brylee and mommy.. the "I'm gonna get you" game) and tackling daddy when he hides under the covers (those are her two fav evening activities)
  8. She loves the songs on her Baby Can Read video
  9. Opening cabinets (kitchen & bathroom) and pulling everything out of them (yes, we're a little behind on the baby proofing)
  10. Standing in front of the dryer and helping me pull out the clean clothes to fold (haha, I call her my little supervisor).  And then she likes grabbing the underwear and swimsuit bottoms to wear as necklaces around her neck... what a goofball! =)  She gets furious when I take them off of her too!
  11. Pushing around her stroller or walker
  12. Trips to the grocery store/Wal-mart, etc... she LOVES waving and smiling at people... my little social butterfly, lol
  13. Getting into my wallet and pulling out every single gift card, credit card, debit card, etc... (we're going to be in trouble once she actually knows how to use them =) )
  14. Unrolling the toilet paper
Brylee's little baby (ok, fine - toddler) accomplishments
  1. She now can point to her nose, and sometimes my nose and Sam's nose
  2. "Arms up" and she'll put her arms up
  3. Clapping... which is so cute, b/c she knows to clap for herself when she does good
  4. She stands up and tries to dance on the Dance Dance Revolution mat for the Wii ... wonder who she watches play that game? =)
  5. Walking (when she feels like it), but as of last Saturday she started consistently taking 3 to 10 steps at a time when she attempts it
  6. Standing - no problems just standing there, even on hard surfaces =)
  7. Waves "hi" and "bye" still... but it's so cute b/c she waves backwards (she folds her hand in and out towards herself)
  8. Clicking her tongue or buzzing her lips.. haha, she likes being copied or copying you when you make those sounds w/ your mouth
  9. Turning on the tv - seriously this little thing is a pro with the remote
As for everything else, she loves seeing animals and watching ducks.  Lol, but when we fed ducks last weekend, Brylee must have been hungry b/c she kept putting the bread in HER mouth instead of dropping it in the water.  Brylee usually goes to bed sometime between 7:45 and 9:30 p.m. waking up between 7 and 8:30 a.m. She's a good little sleeper usually, except for when her excema is bothering her.  If she wakes up itching, it's a sure thing, that she's going to get to sleep with mommy and daddy the rest of the night (which usually happens about once a week).  We LOVE our little 14 month old so much, and can't believe how fast the first year and 2 months have FLOWN by!
