"Hide a Key!"

Yes, this actually happened.

Most days after Brylee's naptime, I take her outside on the balcony so she can watch the golfers and eat her baby food while getting fresh air.  Well, on Thursday she took a late nap, so at 3:30 I took her on the balcony without baby food, etc...  As soon as I shut the door, I knew we had a problem.  Yep, I LOCKED US OUT and Sam doesn't get home until 5:45 p.m.!

So, Brylee and I are stuck out on the balcony with only two rocking chairs, ducky, and myself as entertainment for her.  We also had no way of knowing how much time had passed.  Also, this is in the middle of our rush to get things ready for her birthday party a day and a half later!

In the middle of our time out on the balcony, Brylee starts throwing a fit (which I understand, I wanted to throw one too!), and trying to open the door herself.  She kept looking at me like "Why aren't you taking me back inside?"  I thought about yelling down to one of the golfers on the second hole, but my pride kept getting the best of me =).

Well, we're stuck on the balcony for what seems like forever...and Brylee and I keep peering through the living room windows watching for Sam, and I see someone on the front door step!  At this point I KNOW it has to be past 5:45 (I mean we've been out there for HOURS), and I'm thinking "Who is at our front door?!"  I know it's not Sam, b/c he would be in the house, and we wouldn't be on the balcony anymore.

Then I think, "what if Sam decided to meet someone for wings after work, what if he got in an accident and someone is trying to contact me, what if, what if, what if..."  so I break down and start waving at the golfers (all the way across the golf course) at whole number 6.  FINALLY, they hear me.

Our conversation goes soemthing like this as we're yelling across the golf course:  Me - "Do you know what time it is?  Golfer - "6:05" I immediately think 6:05!!! Where is Sam!!!!  Me - "We're locked out of our house, do you have a cell phone?"  Golfer - "There is someone in your driveway!"  Golfer (now yelling to the person in our driveway) "Sir, do you live there?"  At this point, I'm so confused!?!?!  Why is some guy sitting in our driveway?  The person in the driveway - "Yes!"  Now, I'm even more confused... why is the person in the driveway saying they live at our house?  The only other person that lives here, is Sam, and if Sam were home he would be inside and letting me and Brylee off the balcony!  Golfer - "Well, your wife and child are stuck on the balcony."  Around the house, and down the hill comes SAM!

Sam's perspective:  Sam gets off work 10 minutes early that day and gets home at 5:35.  He opens the garage door, and can't get into the house b/c the door (that we NEVER lock) from the garage door to the kitchen is locked.  Sam never put a house key on his key ring, he ONLY had a garage door opener. He sees my SUV in the garage and thinks I locked all the doors when I took Brylee on a run (b/c he doesn't see the running stroller).  So, Sam is sitting in the garage mad at me, b/c he thinks I locked him out of the house...and he's scanning the golf course b/c I run the golf cart path a lot.  Well, after about 15 minutes of waiting, Sam looks in the back of the SUV and sees both the running stroller and normal stroller in the back!  So now he starts to panic, and calls his dad to bring over a house key.

Every single door to the house is locked, my SUV is in the garage with both strollers, I won't answer my cell phone or the house phone, so now Sam thinks we are being robbed and Brylee and I are stuck inside.  So he was NEVER going to come check the back of the house, b/c from the driveway he could see if someone went running out of the back onto the golf course, or left out the front or the side door.  So as he's standing in the driveway worrying about us, a golfer yells to him "Sir do you live there?" and Sam finds out Brylee and I locked ourselves out on the balcony.

So as Sam is standing in the back talking to Brylee and I on the balcony, the golfer (confused as to why we're all still outside) yells "Do you need help?"  I yell back "We're all locked out."  The golfer laughs and yells "Hide a key!!!!"

And the whole reason the door to the house was locked anyways?  When Roy (Sam's dad) had been here earlier that day, he came upstairs as I was putting Brylee down for a nap, and said he would just "lock up" on his way out.

Well, we had been SO BUSY getting the house ready and getting things together for Brylee's birthday party, I guess Brylee and I got to take a 2 1/2 hour break!
